The single class pass is good for any Swing Improv Workout class. Please specify which one you are interested in joining.
Let’s stay sharp on our improv and swing skills. Like any other activity, this means working out. That’s what we’re going to be doing twice a month. To keep things fresh and fun, we’re also going to learn a new song each month. We’ll focus on all the tools in the swing toolkit and make sure that you are comfortable using them and can keep building on everything you already know. We’re going to keep this fun, fresh, and engaging — and with this class, you’ll have time to balance swing improv practice with your fiddle tune work.
Classes will be on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month from 4:00 – 5:15 MDT. You can buy classes a la carte or in a bundle (for a discount). Come by for one week, one month… or for the rest of 2020!
In the first Thursday class of each month, you’ll learn a new song: the melody, the chords, and a couple of ideas for variations on the melody. We’ll play together and do lots of repetitions so that you leave each class with all of the idea already under your fingers. The second class each month will include swing workouts over the new song, and we’ll do these together. You’ll leave each class with a couple of good licks and exercises that will be ready to incorporate into your solo. The agenda will include small bites of material that we’ll fully integrate into your playing so that you can take it with you to jams and future improvs/solos over new songs. The first class of each month will also offer an opportunity for you to perform your composed/transcribed solo/improvisations of the song(s) we’ve worked on before we go on to the next one. You’ll be swinging in no time, and fun is guaranteed 😉 Here’s the 2020 schedule: September 17th, October 1st and 15th, November 5th and 19th, December 3rd and 17th. We’ll begin September 17th with Sweet Georgia Brown, hope to see you there!
